2007 year of undefeated Gold !

Misbah Rehman once again played the game with a very tough fast and once again he played a brilliant innings of 55 runs. He played strokes all over the field but that SIX off of flick of his wrist over mid-wicket was the best cricket shot played in the game. How much we honor his contribution was evident by the shade of cricket bats that Gold team mates made for him.

However the best innings of the match was played by Rohith Ramkumar. He was all setup to score yet another 100 of the year when he got run-out to an excellent direct-hit throw 12 short of his 100. Rohith's power hitting worked like a double edged sword - it fetched us runs and took the opposition out of the game one hit at a time. Here is Rohith coming after getting run-out 12 short of his 100:

Rohith was ably aided by an equally elegant and dominating innings by Rajesh Mosur who besides having the distinct honor of being involved in 4 Gold run outs contributed 48 very valuable runs off of very few balls. It is hard to measure Mosur's impact on the team especially when he has established himself as one of the top wicket keepers in the league.

In the morning Gold won the toss and predictably opted to bat first and put up a score of 253/7 - virtually an un-scalable mountain (sorry to sound so bias). DSCC were all out for about 150 runs with Sunny Ramesh truly showing the flashes of his brilliance and scoring a brilliant 50 that was studded with some breathtaking strokes. He was supported well by Mahesh (who got runout) but Rajesh Solanki was at his best and took FIVE slugger wickets.

Here are the three main contributers from Gold:

With this victory CCCC-Gold has made the history by becoming the first team ever to win multiple championships in one year, no team has done it twice (to the best of my knowledge) and Gold did this thrice:

2007 Twenty-20 Championship
2007 Regular Season Championship
2007 Divisional I Champions

and if you talk to the Gold players they would remind you that the Tennis Championship was also won by a team that was predominantly made-up of Gold team players.

It was a fun game with some awesome Mexican grilled lunch provided by DSCC.

Rohith Ramkumar won man of the match.

Gold is playing next game against their mythical twin Green in a game that has no bearing on the standings of the league.

At the end I must say that Vijay and Shahsi (cscc) did awesome job as umpires.
